Key Stage 3 News
As we come to the end of the Autumn term, it is great to look back at what Key Stage 3 have achieved. Week in, week out Key stage 3 were churning out pieces of work that they should be really proud of. There were multiple different projects that were being completed across the performing arts, ranging from Vietnamese Puppetry to students creating their own Indonesian Gamelan, Film and Raga or Nepali Folk music. There were students, in Geography, investigating climate change and how it can affect our everyday lives. They looked into the different weather events that can occur due to rising temperatures and the severity of them as they become stronger. In Maths, there were the cross curricular links with Geography, by students measuring areas of colours on a range of different flags. It just demonstrates the vast scope these students are learning about and how it is getting them to make their own decisions and critically think about tough topics.听
This week has been no different with the amount of spectacular work that is being produced. In Year 7 French, the students have had a Christmas theme to their work recently. Due to the necessity of getting their letters off to Santa in preparation for the 25th of December, the students were tasked with writing in French. Let鈥檚 hope that Santa and his elves understand what has been written!
The past week saw the 鈥淰irtually for you鈥 91传媒 performing arts assembly. It was fantastic to see students from across the whole school uniting together, whilst online, to create a spectacular show for everyone to watch. There were unique pieces that students had created in their curriculum lessons, to excellent solo pieces throughout. It was great to see so many students getting in the Christmas spirit and enjoying performing for the rest of the school.听
Throughout Key Stage Three art, there have been some phenomenal pieces that have been created right across the key stage. It is so impressive to see how creative our students have been. Some of the topics they have been looking at are Mexican Dolls, observations of fruit and vegetables and classical roman architecture.听
In Year 7 English, the students have been looking at the refugee crisis that is affecting the majority of the world. They have been writing meaningful speeches and having discussions that insight a great deal of critical thought and compassion towards a very difficult subject. They recently created a Jamboard that looks into what they have learnt over the module.
In Music and Performing arts workshops, there has been a great deal happening in the final week of school before Christmas. It was great to listen to the final projects that some students had created. To listen to Kinzal鈥檚 final Raga music piece listen . Also the students were tasked with a christmas performance challenge. There were some amazing festive responses that deserve to be shared, especially .听
Adding to this, the year 9鈥檚 have been finalising their film music by using leitmotifs and tonality to create moods for a film. There were some fantastic ones which would be great for everyone to hear. and were fantastic.听
Finally, it goes without saying that I wish you a very merry Christmas and a relaxed break over the next three weeks. Please remember to stay safe but enjoy your time with family and friends!
Our Student of the week goes to Fayaz in Y9. Fayaz has been throwing himself into a range of different things and completing them听 to the best of his ability. He gives 100% in everything he does and I believe this is the reason so many teachers have been so impressed with him over the last few weeks. So many positive comments have been entered about Fayaz and he produced a fantastic piece of Maths work on the areas of colours in flags. He is a prime student that is maintaining high standards of work even after spending so long online. Well done Fayaz and keep up the great work.听
听When asked for a piece of advice to give to other students, Fayaz said this:
鈥榃hen setting goals for yourself make sure they are doable to your situation and flexible if your situation changes鈥.
